Origami Project: The Ultra Mobile PC

Today Microsoft let out of the bag their plan for their anticipated "Origami Project" (aka the UMPC - Ultra Mobile Personal Computer). Essentially it's a small laptop with a touch screen that's design as a media device, but actually has a fully working copy of Windows. It's equipped with wifi, optional GPS and of course speakers with headphone outputs - this is, after all, Microsoft's attempt at an iPod/DS/PSP killer. Though the device will not be nearly as adept as a stand-alone device, it integrates the gaming abilities of a Nintendo DS (touch screen gaming) and a Sony PSP (wide screen, high resolution gaming) with the media capabilities of an iPod and PMP (through Windows Media Player, WinAmp or whatever your media player of choice is). http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/umpc/hardware.mspx
